User Reviews: All of the employees seem to care. Many of the lay staff are in AA/NA. There is plenty of structure and accountability. The treatment center and the residences are at 2 close but different locations. There is to much time wasted shuttling back and forth. I went to this facility experiencing severe depression in my 27th year of sobriety. I needed help. I was treated like everyone else. I believe that they helped me even though I'm not sure in hindsight if their facility is really where I belonged.

User Reviews: This facility is great from start to finish. The staff is top notch. I cannot say enough about this program. My son had been to three other programs with no luck they were very shady and lied. When I took my son to Behavioral Health of the Palm Beaches I was never so excited. He loves the program, the staff, and the facility. He will be graduating soon! His case manager has been wonderful. Families are kept informed and can make visits. If someone you know needs help this is the right place.

User Reviews: Aside from nursing staff, all the staff I met were former addicts and were well-meaning and wanted to help. However, I don't think they are adequately trained to deal with all types of drug withdrawal. A weakness was the inadequate security given the location of the Cottages. It is in a unsafe neighborhood. I cannot say this strongly enough. Do not send your loved one here. The womans facility at the Cottages is in an unsafe neighborhood... My loved one was in a one-to-one situation with an aide at the facility while going through withdrawal and was still able to get away to get drugs and worse. Stay away! I don't want anyone to go through what we went through at this facility.

User Reviews: Where do I begin That fact that I was blessed to get complete and personally customized treatment was amazing. I have never experienced rehabilitation like this before. The clinical staff is highly recommended and very knowledgeable. The residential staff was understanding, patient, and extremely supportive. I was not pressured into the ideology that did not sit right with me. I was able to establish a routine and engage in various methods of therapy which in turn has ultimately saved my life. There is not enough vernacular to express the gratitude and debt I have for Sunspire Health Hyde Park. I fully recommend this facility to anyone and everyone that has the opportunity. FL Substance Abuse Facts

Florida’s rates of alcohol and drug abuse are often above the national average. For example:

  • Florida’s rate of past-month alcohol use for individuals age 12 and older was also above the national average in 2014-2015 (54.83% vs. 52.2%).
  • Past-month alcohol use among adolescents age 12-17 was slightly above the national average in 2014-2015, as well (10.7% vs. 10.6%).
  • The rate of past-year cocaine use in Florida among those 12 and older was higher than the national average for 2014-2015 (1.9% vs. 1.75%).In fact, the number of overdose deaths caused by cocaine has been on an upswing since 2012, going from 1,318 that year to 1,834 in 2015.

Like many other states, Florida has recently experienced a surge in opioid overdose deaths. Drug overdose deaths in the state increased by 22.7% from 2014-2015, which was one of the highest percentage increases in the country. In 2015, heroin, fentanyl, and oxycodone caused the deaths of 3,896 people in the state.

In a positive sign, the number of people getting treatment for opioid addiction in Florida has increased over the past few years. A single-day count of people receiving methadone in opioid treatment programs increased from 2013 to 2015 (14,433 to 17,670). Getting Addiction Treatment Help

The primary kinds of addiction treatment in Florida are inpatient and outpatient programs. Many inpatient and residential rehabs operate 30-day treatment programs which include individual and group therapy, recreational activities, and addiction education. A formal, medical detox is sometimes incorporated into these program varieties but may also take place in a separate facility.

Outpatient programs provide similar therapeutic interventions, but are unable to offer the same level of medical care and supervision as inpatient programs. You are also able to visit the treatment center on certain days at certain hours, instead of living there.

Whether you already know which type of FL rehab you prefer, or you need assistance making a decision, we can help. Call us today.

Where Else Can I Find Help?

Some people don’t have insurance or aren’t able to pay for treatment upfront. Treatment providers understand this, and that’s why many offer payment options that may lower the total cost or let you pay off what you owe in monthly installments.

Other recovery options for people without insurance include rehab centers funded by the state, nonprofit and charity programs, and 12-step groups.

Some nonprofits and rehabilitation programs also offer scholarships that cover all or a portion of the cost. These are not always available, but they are worth investigating.
