Overview

The Van Dyke ATC is a "Tobacco-Free" chemical dependency service (the use or possession of tobacco products and paraphernalia is not allowed and nicotine dependence is treated along with other addictions). Services are provided to address the basic health care needs of each patient while addressing the specific physical, psychological and social symptoms associated with psychoactive substance abuse. Treatment services at the Van Dyke ATC are provided within a healthcare context which recognizes alcoholism and other psychoactive substance dependencies as treatable illnesses of and by themselves, although they may co-exist with other physical and emotional problems. While there are similarities for many in treatment, an individualized treatment plan is developed for each patient and length of stay is determined by treatment progress. Family members and friends who are supportive of the recovery process are encouraged to be actively involved with the treatment experience.
