Overview

The Behavioral Health Bureau promotes the emotional health and physical well-being of County residents by assessing the problems, needs and resources of the County and promoting behavioral health through education, prevention and treatment. The Bureau offers?five major programs: Adolescent and Family Services, Adult Addiction Services, Community Treatment Services, Prevention and Education Services and Recovery Support Services. The Bureau also administers grants to provide for services addressing sexual assault, domestic violence and substance abuse.

The Anne Arundel County Department of Health’s Recovery Support Services Program works with clients in substance abuse treatment to obtain the resources and skills they need to transition successfully from treatment to sustained recovery.

To participate in the Recovery Support Services Program, clients must be referred by the Anne Arundel County Department of Health or a participating treatment provider. A client must also be an Anne Arundel County resident, age 18 years or older, and have a diagnosed substance use disorder. For more information regarding participation in the Recovery Support Services Program, call 410-222-7076.

The Anne Arundel County Department of Health has partnered with Arundel House of Hope, Chrysalis House, Opportunity Ministries and Serenity Sistas to provide recovery housing for women and their children. To be eligible, a woman must be age 18 or older, have at least one child in her physical custody, have a diagnosed substance use disorder and must participate in substance abuse treatment or aftercare as appropriate.
