California Mental Health Connection

California Mental Health Connection is truly the best place you could send someone who’s addicted to drugs. My brother went there last year and he’s changed so much in that time. He went from shooting heroin to helping people get off heroin. Went from manipulating my mom out of money or just stealing money from our parents to working hard to get them paid back. He hasn’t paid them back completely but he sends them money from every paycheck he gets and he’s proud of the fact that he’s able to do it. He’s taken so much from my parents that to see him trying so hard to make up for it is amazing. I had stopped talking to him 2 years before he went to California Mental Health Connection. I was just sick of watching him ruin his life and when he stole a bunch of money from our parents I was just done. He started writing me letters when he got out detox at California Mental Health Connection. I was worried the first time I got one of his letters because every rehab he’s gone to before going to California Mental Health Connection all he did was complain about them. He hated being at them or he hated the people or the staff weren’t nice, it was always something and so I was expecting the same thing from him this time. However, I could tell that California Mental Health Connection was different for him. He told me that the detox he went through wasn’t too bad and that the detox staff really helped him get through it fairly comfortably. He loved the staff there and throughout his programs the letters continued to praise the program and the people working there. While he was there he told me that he had decided that he wanted to do the same thing with his life. He wanted to work there and help people get off drugs. That was a shock for me as I didn’t think he’d ever be that intent on helping others. He got to choose the program he did at California Mental Health Connection. He talked with his counselor about it of course the decision of how he was going to help himself get off drugs was ultimately up to him and that made a huge difference for him. He told me that when he decided on the program he was going to do was when he made the decision to really do that program and get sober for good. He started playing the guitar again. He was always playing when we were growing up but he sold his guitar to get heroin and so stopped playing. They have a music room at California Mental Health Connection where he spent most of his free time. By the time my brother finished his program we were talking on the phone again and I was so happy to have my brother back in my life. He is back at California Mental Health Connection working and he’s doing amazing. I don’t worry about him so much anymore and I know that he’s doing something he loves. It’s been such a great year with my brother and just knowing that he’s going to continue to do good is pretty awesome.

Overall great experience. This facility offers intensive groups as well as one on one therapy. The directors are amazing people that will give an arm and leg to help with your recovery. They can help you with any type of addiction. The staff really do take the time and care to help their patients through the hardest time in their life. All of the clinicians are here to help others with their own stories and different techniques to acquire success for each client. I needed psychotherapists to handle my psychic traumas and Soroptimist House of Hope Inc was a place that provided a special psychiatric treatment unit with experienced psychiatrists and psychologists address underlying behavioral and mental issues.

Individual and group counseling prevent chances of relapse and motivate clients to live a healthy life. El Proyecto del Barrio is a safe environment that is clean, comfortable and positive. El Proyecto del Barrio is a beautiful facility. They definitely helped put my life back on track and now it is up to me to continue to stay clean and sober.
