Residential Treatment in Southern California
Design for Change Recovery's gender specific residential program is a 12-Step based treatment program in Southern California that incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and holistic treatment.

Our clients are guided through the entire 12-Step process, so they go through the steps while they're in treatment. This is a unique opportunity, as many wait until after treatment is over to start the steps. Our clients begin learning how to incorporate 12 step principals into their daily lives so they are prepared to continue using recovery tools once they complete our residential addiction treatment.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
We believe CBT is a very important tool to implement change. It allows patients to explore feelings, thoughts, and gain insight into behavior they need to change. Patients meet with certified counselors, therapists, and psychiatrists if needed.

CBT serves to change destructive thoughts and behaviors. Our certified therapists help clients identify troublesome beliefs, and learn how thoughts, feelings, and situations can create unwanted behaviors.

Learning about problematic behaviors is vital to the recovery process. Patients practice new skills and learn how to use them in real-world settings. For example, clients can rehearse ways to avoid potential social trigger situations before they go out into the real world.

Holistic Treatment
We also offer holistic treatment, which treats a person as a whole. Addiction affects a person's mind, body, and spirit, so we treat each one of those aspects. We offer a wide variety of holistic treatments that support the recovery process.

Our treatment center offers individualized care to each patient who stays with us. All of our patients are unique, so we make sure to take the time to create specialized treatment plans for every client.

30,60,90+ Days
Our facility offers 30, 60, and 90+ day treatment programs. We recommend patients stay more than 30 days for a couple of reasons. First of all, when patients receive treatment, they might go through withdrawal symptoms.

Withdrawal Symptoms may include
Sweating
Anxiety
Vomiting or Nausea
Headache
Irritability
Poor Concentration

When patients are expelling toxins from their bodies, they cannot focus on recovery. The first couple of weeks they can be focusing on withdrawal, so they are not thinking about their recovery.

Our physician may prescribe some patients medication for their withdrawal in order to safely detox. It takes time to get rid of all the toxins built up by drugs and alcohol, and medication. So, while patients are under medically supervised detox, they cannot be expected to fully participate in learning about the recovery process.

After two weeks of withdrawal, that only leaves a couple more weeks to learn about addiction, go through the 12 Steps, learn new coping tools and strategies, and learn about triggers, etc. That is a lot of information to take in within a few days.
