Overview

The Men's and Women's Programs afford participants a safe environment in which to share about their concerns and about the unique influences in their lives. The way in which gender affects patients' societal functioning is explored in these groups.

Beacon Center recognizes that chemically dependent women have special issues and needs that must be resolved to promote recovery. The multiple issues that chemically dependent women face include issues of sexuality, such as rape, childhood sexual abuse, prostitution, and abortion. As a result of these issues, Beacon Center's Women's Program is geared toward helping women develop their self esteem as well as their assertiveness skills. It creates a therapeutic milieu that is sensitive to women's needs and concerns while providing a supportive environment just for women.
