Overview

SUBSTANCE ABUSE EDUCATION: Comprehensive substance abuse prevention services are based on the following strategies: information dissemination, education, alternatives, social policy, environmental, problem identification and referral, and community based processes. Prevention efforts are primarily directed to youth, preschool to high school, however special programming is also provided to seniors, college students, parents, youth service providers, teachers, and business employees and supervisors. Programs are presented at schools, churches, work places, and community sites. ASAC has a special cultural specific prevention program. LIFT, Learning Initiatives For Tomorrow, is a violence and substance abuse prevention that targets elementary and middle school African American youth.
