Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Funded Substance Abuse Service.
Outreach, Screening, Assessment and Referral Centers (OSARs) may be the first point of contact for those seeking substance abuse treatment services. Regardless of ability to pay, Texas residents who are seeking substance abuse services and information may qualify for services based on need.


Offers a specialized female residential and outpatient substance abuse treatment program for adult women. Dual diagnosis and pregnant referrals accepted. Substance abuse counseling, home school for addicted at-risk high school students, family preservation/mediation, stop smoking programs and becoming happily divorced-must be divorced at least one year and still having problems. Addiction counseling- supportive and intensive program, anger resolution classes and GED classes also provided.


f you are interested in either the Residential program or the Outpatient program at Alpha Home, you must first be evaluated to determine whether you are eligible.
Residential Treatment:
To inquire about Residential Treatment (for women only), call the Alpha Home Admissions office at (210) 735-3822, ext. 111 or email [email protected], to schedule an assessment. You will then be given an appointment time for an assessment. If you reach the voice message system, leave your name and telephone number, and an admissions counselor will return your call as soon as possible.
Outpatient Treatment:
For women and men interested in Outpatient Treatment, Alpha Home accepts walk-in applicants at the Admissions office in the Ruble Center, 419 E. Magnolia, during the following times:
8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Monday
3-4:30 p.m. Tuesday
8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Wednesday
3-4:30 p.m. Thursday
8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Friday


What Makes Me Eligible for Treatment at Alpha Home?

Alpha Home treats adult women and men (18 or older) with substance addiction problems. Alpha Home works with those who are motivated and are willing to comply with treatment requirements. We have funding assistance available to those who are assessed as unable to pay.
What to Bring to the Interview
If you are unable to pay for your treatment and are interested in applying for funding, you need to bring the following:
    Proof of Texas residency, such as a Texas driver’s license or state ID; an official document mailed to you at a Texas address; a letter from Child Protective Services certifying that you are a Texas resident; or a lease agreement to a Texas residence with your name as leaser
    Proof of current monthly income for you and your spouse, if applicable (most recent paycheck stub or letter from employer, proof of government support, child support, SSI, SSDI, or other)
    Proof of insurance (Medicaid, Medicare, Veterans Benefits, CHAMPUS, or other private insurance)
After the Assessment
Due to the great need for affordable treatment in Texas, there may be a waiting period for admission into Alpha Home’s Residential program, and you will be given instructions by the Admissions counselor on how to remain on the wait list. Generally, admission in to the Outpatient program is immediate.
