I personally attended Nystrom and Associates a while back and at first I could have cared less whether it worked or not. I was injured at work a while ago and in the process of that I hurt my back, ended up having to get surgery, and was put on some medication. After being on that medication for a while I began to kind of become immune to its effects and was feeling no different so that is when I began drinking and using other drugs to compensate for the pain I was feeling. That in turn then led me to go downhill at work and not really care about my appearance I was just doing whatever I could to feel sorry for myself because of the injury that had taken place and was giving myself the ole pitty party of why did this have to happen to me. After a few months of spiraling out of control some of my co-workers sat me down and told me I was going to lose my job that I had been at successfully for almost 9 years if I did not go and get the help that they were offering me. It was hard to say yes but it was almost harder to look at all these people who cared more about me than I did at that moment and tell them no! So I was on my way to rehab, not very happy about it but I was going. I had something to prove to them but more so to myself knowing that this is not who I was or who I was supposed to be. I gave it everything I had. I detoxed had good days and bad days. I had days where I called my buddies saying how awful it was here and no one knew what they were doing and I was not learning a damn thing. It was all lies to try and get one of them to come get me out of this place. When I could not get one to come I would call the other when they did not come I would call the next but when no one came I realized that this was something I had to face and they were letting me know I had to finish this. About twenty days after that I graduated I remember calling all of them and thanking them for not coming to get me. I had finally got to all of my underlying issues and began to stop feeling sorry for myself and at that point I knew that I would not go back and fall into this trap of addiction again. I cannot thank the people at this center again. I said such hurtful things to them while I was here and about this place but it really was just because I did not want to be here I would say or do anything to get out if it. In the end I am so proud of myself for all that I have accomplished and I looked forward to going home and showing everyone including myself that I did it and I am back. The real me the one who cares about their job performance, the one who takes pride in their appearance and the one who loves life and today I am proud to say that this program helped me get all of that back.

I could not say enough good things about African American Family Services. I went to this treatment center for an alcohol addiction a few months ago, and I am very happy that I did. I had been struggling with an alcohol abuse habit for about twenty years and previous treatment centers I had gone too just were not working for me. African American Family Services treatment approach however was exactly what I needed to ensure that I could stay clean and sober for life. African American Family Services approach uses a lot of one on one attention and a lot of direct, focused treatment services to help people find their path to freedom from even the most difficult and unpleasant of substance abuse habits. One of my favorite things about African American Family Services is that this treatment center truly was able to help me see the future and see the path out of addiction and into a level of freedom and stability and abstinence that was lasting and permanent. African American Family Services combines an excellent degree of one on one services and group therapies to make for a well varied, and well thought out recovery approach. I will contend that this is a tricky program. You actually have to work at it and really apply yourself to it. I would say that the only reason why African American Family Services would not work for you would be if you were not committed to getting clean from your addiction when you entered into the treatment program. But then again, that would be true for anyone going to any kind of treatment program. With African American Family Services, if you want to get clean, you absolutely will get clean with their help. Of that I can say is true with certainty. This treatment center definitely goes the extra mile and puts in the effort to truly help people no matter how bad their substance abuse habits are. I am very pleased with everything that this treatment center was able to do for me and for the other individuals that I went there with. This treatment center really did save all of our lives and really helped us to find our peace of mind and our freedom from even the most difficult of substance abuse habits. Again, this program is tough, but if you are committed to it, it will save you from addiction.
